the artist friendly label.

Dear Guins,

Hope you’re all having a great week! This week, I wanted to highlight some of the fantastic tools we use at Guin to ensure our efficiency as an indie label. Over the years, our small but mighty team has tried various project management tools to stay organized and work seamlessly. We’re now in a good groove with our top choices and can confidently recommend them based off our experience using them.

Additionally, we’ve just released a new podcast episode featuring Adam Gross, the president of Ineffable Records, who shares his journey in building a successful indie label. Don’t miss it!

He also reveals why artists choose Ineffable Records over major labels and discusses the unique challenges of running a modern record label. Listen here!

Our Top 3 Favorite Tools and Softwares that Keep Us Moving at Guin Records:

  1. Slack: It’s not common for music companies to use communication platforms to organize conversations company-wide. Usually, it’s a mess of email threads and different text message group chats. We love Slack as our team can directly communicate with each member on one app, separate from their text messages. We create ‘channels’ organized by subject, whether it’s an artist-specific channel, a marketing team channel, and so on.

  2. ClickUp: We have been using ClickUp for two years now. From hosting checklists per artist project, organizing metadata for each release, tracking company goals and OKRs, ClickUp has become a hub for organizing anything we need. In the past, we worked with Asana and Monday.com but have found a home in ClickUp.

  3. DISCO: Moving on to more music-specific software, DISCO has been a great platform for managing all music and creative assets for our artist projects. Our artist teams can directly submit their files through folder links we create. It’s also an easy way for us to share music securely with distributors, sync partners, artists, and more.
